Youth kills former lover, attempts suicide twice KHAMMAM: Frustrated over his failure to marry his beloved, an MCA graduate here has killed the girl and then attempted suicide twice before surrendering to the police.
According to Kothagudem deputy superintendent of police Devadas Nagul, the victim, Sai Sridevi (22), and the accused, B Kumara Swamy (24), lived in the same locality, Babu Camp, of Kothagudem town. Swamy has completed Master of Computer Application recently while Sridevi was a Class XI dropout.
The DSP said that the two had been in love since 2006 but Sridevi's parents refused give her in marriage to Swamy and married her off four years ago to a youth from Tanuku. The young couple were blessed with a baby. Even after her marriage, Sridevi continued her affair with Kumara Swamy and met him whenever she visited her parental home.
Swamy has proposed recently that they commit suicide together since they could not marry. On Sunday he invited Sridevi to his home at Babu Camp with a plan to kill her and then commit suicide.
When Sridevi visited his house, he asked her to close her eyes and then he slit her throat, killing her instantaneously. After making two futile attempts to hang himself from the ceiling, he surrendered to the One Town police here on Sunday.
