Five die in separate road mishaps Hyderabad, May 10 (INN): At least five persons were killed on the spot while one more was stated to be critical in two separate road accidents which took place at Visakhapatnam and Karimnagar districts.
In the first mishap, three persons were killed on the spot and one more injured grievously when a speeding lorry rammed into an oncoming auto-rickshaw at Vemagottipalem in Anandapuram mandal in Visakhapatnam district early on Tuesday morning.
According to Sub-Inspector S Bala Surya Rao, the victims have been identified as Indran Surya Babu (55), Indran Shimhachalam (48) and Uttarpalli Krishna (38). The injured person has been identified as Appayamma.
Mr Surya Rao further revealed the mishap occurred when the driver of the speeding lorry lost control over his vehicle and hit the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. All the victims were on board the auto-rickshaw.
Appayamma was rushed to a private hospital, while the fatalities were shifted to a government hospital for autopsies. Police seized the lorry and a manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding driver.
In another incident, two persons were killed on spot in a road accident, when a speeding van rammed into a two wheeler at Sultanabad in Karimnagar district, late on Monday night.
According to Sub-Inspector Ramesh, the victims have been identified as Rajesham (45) and Anjamma (26), residents of Pusala in Sultanabad. Mr Ramesh further revealed that the mishap occurred when the driver of a speeding DCM van lost control over his vehicle. The out-of-control van crossed over to the wrong side of the road and hit the oncoming motorcycle. The victims had no chance to escape and died on the spot.
Police reached the spot on getting information and shifted the victims to a government hospital for autopsies. Police seized the van and a manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding driver. Cases were registered under Section 304 (A) IPC and further investigations are going on.
