New house numbering system in city Hyderabad: To avoid difficulties in finding house addresses in the city, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will launch a new house numbering programme from Thursday. Based on the study conducted by house numbering cell constituted in 1990, in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Chennai, GHMC prepared the new numbering system.
In the existing system, the house numbers were not in serial order and also difficult to remember and recognize the number. In the new system, numbering will start from one corner of the locality nearer to the city centre. Street nearer to city centre is numbered as street No.1 and continue in clockwise or anticlockwise direction, depending on the traffic direction and layout pattern.
Street numbers are assigned in increasing order in the locality. The premises number in a locality starts- Street No.1 and continue till the last street. Each premise is assigned with one number irrespective of plan approval. The vacant sites also are given numbers. State Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K Maheedar Reddy will launch the programme at Baglingampally.
