Country Club staff booked for cheating Hyderabad: The Punjagutta police on Wednesday booked a case against seven employees of the Country Club including its general manager on char ges of cheating. The gambling activity was also suspended for the time being. The case was booked in the wake of a member of the club, K Srinivasa Rao, ending his life by jumping from the third floor of the club after losing Rs 3 lakh in gambling on Tuesday.
The case has been registered against general manager Srikanth Sharma, managers Shanmukheswar and Hariprasad and four other employees ' Venugopal, Ramakrishna, Narayana and Nageswar Rao. Police said the clubs are allowed to entertain their members to play rummy, since, it has been declared as a game of skill by the court.
However, the clubs are allowing the members to play three cards, which is gambling and is not allowed by the law. The club management has cheated the law enforcement agencies by violating the rules due to which a case has been registered.
'We have arrested supervisors and floor managers remanded them to judicial custody since they have violated the rules by not maintaining necessary registers and records,'. Punjagutta inspector K Ashok Chakra varthy said.
