Heavy security arrangements for Eid, Ganesh festivals Hyderabad, Aug 27 (INN): With the Eid-ul-Fitr and Ganesh Chaturthi likely to fall on the same day, the Hyderabad City Police will be making elaborate security arrangements to ensure that the celebrations passes off peacefully.
In a high level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary SV Prasad at the State Secretariat here on Saturday, the State administration reviewed the security and other arrangements being made for the peaceful celebration of both the festivals.
The meeting was attended by Municipal Administration Minister M Mahidhar Reddy, Labour Minister Danam Nagender, Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy and Police Commissioner AK Khan. The Chief Secretary has issued instructions to the top brass concerned asking them to ensure that no untoward incident occur during the festival season.
The state government has also made an appeal that no individual or devotee must not misconstrue the police checks in the city particularly when the Ganesha idols are checked. It has been decided to increase the security at Mecca Masjid and all other places of worship.
The city police and the intelligence agencies have been asked to be more vigilant and take precautionary measures. In view of the nine-day Ganesh festival, the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee office-bearers have also been asked to be more vigilant.
Speaking to the media persons, the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi leader Baddam Balreddy, who also attened the review meeting, objected to the restrictions being imposed on the size of Ganesh idols and pandals.
He said that even during the British Rule such restrictions were not imposed. He said the Samithi would defy the instructions and would not obtain any permission from the police.
