Heavy rains disrupts life in Hyderabad Hyderabad, Aug 30: Following heavy rains, vehicular traffic on the city roads at several places came to a standstill on Tuesday. The traffic got jammed on the entire stretch between Kukatpally and Khairatabad for over two hours.
Similarly, the vehicular traffic came to a halt between Begumpet and Punjagutta. Thousands of people were left stranded on the roads amidst heavy downpour. The stretch from Mehdipatnam to Tolichowki too was affected with the traffic jams for several hours.
Several localities in the low-lying areas were the worst affected. The rain water entered several houses in the low-lying areas. The bazars in the Old City wore a deserted look due to heavy rains leaving hundreds of small vendors fuming at nature's fury. However, the residents and shop keepers breathed a sigh of relief when it stopped raining in the evening.
Meanwhile, the Met Department has predicted heavy rains for the next 48 hours in Telangana and coastal districts due to the impact of the cyclone centered between the north coastal Andhra and south Tamil Nadu.
