Vysya's need to grow politically Virginia: Vysya community, though constitute a significant chunk of Andhra Pradesh population, is being under represented in state politics. The community, based on its population strength, should have a minimum of 21 legislators in the assembly, but there are only 7 MLAs from the community in the present Assembly, disclosed former MLA Ambika Krishna at a banquet held to mark the beginning of the three day NRIVA Global Convention held at Hyatt Regency Reston hotel in Virgina (USA) on Saturday.
While political parties seek the support of Vysya community, which is a decisive factor in more than 71 constituencies in the state, Vysya's are not even allotted 21 tickets to contest in the polls.
Leave alone the proportional representation, Vysya's are not getting their due share in the politics, deplores Ambika Krishna. Vysya's need to grow in politics asserted Krishna. He called upon the delegates of NRIVA Global Convention, to bring pressure on political parties so as to get the community's rightful share in political space.
The NRIVA Global Convention has kick started with a massive banquet with the more than 1000 delegates cheerfully greeting each other. This is the first of its kind of a large scale meet of Vysya's on foreign shores.
The chief guest of the meet Grandhi Mallikarjuna Rao of GMR group is the center of attraction at the banquet. It shows how modest he is when he walks around all the banquet tables greeting and talking to each delegate.
