 NRI News | TDF Bathukamma festival in Minnesota
Minneapolis Minnesota: This year's Bathukamma-Dussera festival under the aegis of the TDF Minnesota Chapter was held at the scenic outdoor Hilde Performance Center Plymouth-MN on September 18. It will be an event truly remembered for its secular character and excellent community involvement.
In spite of it being a cloudy and rainy day the event saw enthusiastic participation by not only members of the Telugu community but also other cross-sections of the society.
All local important govt. officials invited for the event participated enthusiastically and were overwhelmed by the welcome and honor bestowed upon them. Besides local officials eminent personalities like poet Dr. Andesri, Janapada Sangeeta Brahma P.V. Chalapati Rao (Kodibaya Lachhamadi fame) and Dr. Medasani Mohan literary scholar, from India have graced the event.
In line with our vision of charity and service, the event was started by distribution of backpacks to the needy kids, which was sponsored by TANA and organized by Sagar Malisetty.
Professional singer Vijayalakshmi entertained the gathering with her religious as well as popular Telangana folk songs. The event saw the Mayor of Plymouth and others shaking a leg with the musical events. Mr. Andesri overwhelmed the crowd with his poetic renditions and Mr. Medasani and Mr Chalapati Rao inspired everybody with their words of wisdom.
The event was anchored by Sandhya and Padma who kept the audience very interested in the proceedings. Dedication ceremony was performed by mementos being presented by groups of volunteers to all the guests invited.
The event culminated was with the traditional Bathumkamma celebrations followed by Dussera's Jammi pooja. The event finally convened by rendering both the American and Indian anthems. This event was organized and professionally executed by TDF Minnesota Chapter.
