Survey begins for city's transportation plan Hyderabad, Nov 1 (INN): The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority with the assistance from Union Ministry of Urban Development is preparing a Comprehensive Transportation Plan for the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Area (HMDA).
According to a HMDA spokesman, a comprehensive transportation study is being conducted in the entire HMDA covering Hyderabad District, substantial parts of Ranga Reddy District and portions of Medak, Nalgonda and Mahaboobnagar districts.
The study is intended to develop a comprehensive transportation plan for short, medium and long term periods for HMA and provide necessary transport infrastructure in an integrated manner to efficiently handle the ever increasing traffic and transportation problems within HMDA.
LEA Associates South Asia Pvt. Ltd.,(LASA) in joint venture with LEA International Ltd., Canada has been engaged as consultants to conduct this Comprehensive Transportation Study.
Amongst several field surveys required to be undertaken, Home Interview Survey (HIS) of selected/ sampled households is one of the important components of the study.
This survey has been started from October 28 by Development and Research Services Pvt., Ltd. (DRS) under the direct supervision of LASA. Over 30,000 households will be sampled and interviewed during the course of the Home Interview Survey covering areas under GHMC, Secunderabad Cantonment Board, villages within HADA and many villages within HMDA including portions of Medak, Nalgonda and Mahaboobnagar districts.
Field investigators from DRS will be visiting the sampled households for the purpose of interviewing the members in the household. HMDA appeals all the residents of HMA to extend necessary cooperation to the field investigators and facilitate the proper conduct of the interviews and gathering the necessary information from the sampled households.
The information collected through this survey will be utilized to estimate the travel demand, appreciate travel pattern and plan for better transport infrastructure in Hyderabad Metropolitan Area.
