60-year-old woman among two held for theft Hyderabad, Dec 4 (INN): The sleuths of Detective Department of Central Crime Station have apprehended a 60-year old woman and her associate who used to rob innocent bus passengers.
According to police, the arrested accused Nirmala and Syed Anwar, both residents of Mangar Basti, were part of a gang led by Nirmala's sister Nagaraju which used to steal bags and valuables from the bus passengers by diverting their attention.
Nagaraju along with his sisters Nirmala (60) and Harini (50), niece Laxmi and her husband Syed Anwar formed a gang to conduct these offences. Clad in burkhas or big shawls, these women used to board buses along with untidy children to irritate the targeted passengers. After diverting their attention, they used to steal bags and valuables from them.
The accused Nirmala and Syed Anwar were arrested while they were trying to flee to Bidar along with the stolen gold ornaments. During interrogation, they confessed to have committed five offences in Hyderabad City and Cyberabad limits. Police seized about 250 grams of gold ornaments, imitation jewellery and hand bags all worth about Rs 6 lakhs from their possession.
