Washington D.C. hosted ATA Roju




Washington DC Chapter of American Telugu Association (ATA) hosted ATA Roju event on March 10th, 2012 in Sterling, Virginia. The purpose of the event was to promote 12th ATA Conference and Youth Convention in Atlanta, GA from July 6th to 8th 2012.

The event was attended by 500 participants living across Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Baltimore and its surrounding areas. Dr. Rajender Jinna, president, Ram Mohan Konda, General Secretary, Rajesh Madireddy, Finance Committee, Bhuvanesh Boojala, Trustee, and other senior members of ATA attended the event.

From generous donations and registrations raised a grand amount of $120,000 through this event.

The evening started with a welcome note by Soumya Kondapalli, DC metro area Regional Coordinator. Soumya introduced the guests and performers. Dr.Jinna, President, explained about 12th ATA convention progress and thanked all the donors and registrants.

He also thanked all the regional coordinators and volunteers for organizing the event. Regional coordinators Manohar Enugu, Soumya Kondapalli, Babu Gummadi, Jayendar Annam, Trustees Ram Mohan Konda, Rajesh Madireddy, Bhuvanesh Boojala, along with senior members Lokesh Anantula, Vishu Kalwala, Yella Reddy, Gyanchander Reddy, Pulla Reddy, and local support team Sudhir Damidi, Ravi Bojja, Sudershan Thum, Jyothi Charukupally, Satyajit Mareddy, Sridhar Palvai, Harish Kumar, Venkat Gunda, Aravinda Eda, Mahendar Edla, Rajani Mulamalla, Bharathi Yachamaneni, Srilatha Thum, Ramana Reddy played major role in getting the donations and registrations and played key role in making the event a grand success.

The evening was dominated by brilliant entertainment performances by children of all ages. Trisha performed classical dance, Lakshya, Rachana, Shreya T, Sahithi, Sanjana, Shreya J, Samhita, Shreya G, Yash, Abhiram, Sujay thrilled the attendees with dances on Bollywood and Tollywood music.

Yuthi and Medha played violin and Prathyusha, Prenya, Sahiti, Hiya, Tejal from Swaram School performed musical melody. The performances were supplemented by DJ Omer. Children had the most fun in the event and inspired parents to join them. Guests enjoyed the delicious food from Persis Indian Cuisine.

The event inspired new memberships, new interests and generous donations from majority of the attendees. Large section of attendees came forward to volunteer for future events. Enthralled attendees requested ATA to host 13th convention in Washington DC area.

Vote of thanks was given by Virginia area Regional Coordinator, Manohar Enugu, who thanked all the donors, registrants, performers and volunteers.
