Three teenagers held for woman's murder Hyderabad, May 10 (INN): The Chatrinaka Police on Friday arrested three teenagers for the murder of an old lady in Maruthi Nagar on the intervening night of May 8th and 9th.
According to police, the deceased, P Sarojini, 77, was a retired Government Teacher and she was allegedly killed by M Venkatesh (19), Katta Madhu (19) and Bonthapalli Durgadas (18), all residents of Uppuguda.
Police said that the the trio gained entry into the house compound by scaling over the wall from Hanuman Temple side, and entered into the main building through the door besides the steps.
They removed two rods from the window and entered the room where the deceased was sleeping. On hearing the sound, the deceased woke up and as she attempted to raise the alarm, the accused persons strangulated her to death by using a scarf. Before leaving, the accused took away Rs 75,000, the cellphone and the ear tops of the deceased.
The accused persons were allegedly having the prior knowledge about the recent sale of her house by the deceased and that she stayed alone in the house. Taking advantage of the situation, the offence was committed by them for monetary gain, police said.
The Police have also seized cash of Rs 72,000, one Cellphone (belonging to the deceased) and the pair of ear tops of the deceased.
Two of the arrested accused - Venkatesh (19) and Katta Madhu were previously involved in a case of theft of Rs 16,000 from a clinic under the Narayanguda PS limits.
DCP South Zone Tarun Joshi appreciated the good work done by Chatrinaka inspector N Lakshmi Narayana and his team in investigating the case and arresting the accused within a span of 24 hours after commission of the offence. He said that the police officials would be suitably rewarded.
