Drunken driving: 21 people convicted Hyderabad, May 16 (INN): First Metropolitan Magistrate G Radhika convicted 21 people of imprisonment for driving in inebriated condition.
Of 21 people, two have been convicted for imprisonment of 10 days, five persons for a period of five days, one for a period of three days and 13 people for two days.
The Enforcement against Drunk Driving was carried out over the last weekend on May 10th and 11th. A total of 339 cases were booked against Drunk Drivers.
The vehicles of all the respondents were detained. They attended the compulsory counselling sessions at TTI, Begumpet and Goshamahal on Monday.
Of 339 vehicles detained, as many as 252 were two-wheelers, 13 three-wheelers and 71 four-wheelers. The respondents were produced before the First Metropolitan Magistrate Court and fines between Rs 2,000 to 2,100 were imposed.
From 1st January 2013 to 11th May, a total of 4,756 cases have been registered and total imprisonments are 358 as on date, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) CV Anand said.
