GHMC collects Rs 168.47 Cr Property Tax Hyderabad, July 24 (INN): Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner M T Krishna Babu has informed that the GHMC could collect Rs 168.47crores through property tax as on 23rd July 2013 which is 25 per cent more than previous year.
The Commissioner held a review meeting with all the Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Additional Commissioners Finance, Health & Sanitation and Advertisements regarding Revenue Collections in Panwar Hall on Wednesday.
Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner said that GHMC could make 4,45,306 transactions in this Financial Year where as last year it was 4,05,293 transactions.
He further directed the Zonal Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to concentrate on collection of more than three years arrears. Circles Rajendranagar (with 59 per cent), Serilingampally 1 (with 58 per cent) and Kukatpally (with 53 per cent) stood in Top-3 positions of property tax collections.
Krishna Babu has informed that in all 18 circles 3,333 numbers of assessments have come for tax revision which resulted in Rs. 10 crores decrease in GHMCs tax revenue. He has directed the Financial Advisors of each Circle to audit top 100 cases in their respective circles.
The Commissioner directed the officials to collect mobile numbers of tax payers since it is an easy way to approach them. He further informed that GHMC could collect 1,54,609 mobile numbers where as the assessments are 13,22,549 in number.
He further directed the officials of Property Tax to book criminal cases on cheque bounces and said that GHMC faced a loss of Rs. 10 crores because of cheque bounces.
The Commissioner has informed that GHMC has received 1,084 application for self assessments of property tax as on Wednesday and further appealed the citizens of GHMC to avail this opportunity before 31st August 2013 and avoid 3 years penalty if found in GHMC survey.
Krishna Babu directed all the Deputy Commissioners to fix up the responsibility in collecting 56 column details where as GIS technology could only collect the details like plinth area usage and photographs of the assessment from the tax payers as per norms.
He further stated that he will conduct random inspections in the month of November and December 2013 failing which the Commissioner will initiate action against those Bill Collectors for not obeying the orders.
