'The LED lamps project will be taken up on pilot basis by installing 1,000 lamps initially. The officials will monitor the performance of the LED lamps for one month. After the stipulated period, the members of the Standing Committee will inspect the LED lamp-equipped street lights before expanding it to the entire corporation,' Hussain said after the Standing Committee meeting.
The committee also took decisions like procurement of 3000 rickshaws at the rate of 25 for each division and delegation of powers to special deputy collector (land acquisition) from chief city planner to expedite the land acquisition cases in the corporation limits in a speedy manner, procurement of 15000 new garbage bins to cover all the open points in the corporation limits and delegation of powers zonal commissioners to sanction works worth Rs 25 lakh from the existing limits Rs 10 lakh.
The Mayor said the enhancement of the sanction limit of the zonal commissioner would not only help the public representatives to reach the expectation of their electorate but also allow the officials to perform more efficiently.
