KTR defends shutting down of GOs website
Hyderabad, March 12 (INN): Information Technology Minister K. Tarakarama Rao has strongly defended the shutting down of website on Government GOs.
Intervening during the discussion on Motion of Thanks on Governor's Address in Legislative Council on Saturday, the minister said that the website was put offline due to some 'professional blackmailers'. He said some individuals were misusing the information extracted from GOs and were going to courts. Stating that the government was not afraid of anyone, he claimed that the State Government was maintaining total transparency in its functioning.
KTR said that the Right to Information was in implementation and anyone seeking information under RTI would be provided the required info. However, shutting down the website does not come under the purview of RTI, he said.
