Education system needs a total revamp: KCR
Hyderabad, March 21 (INN): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao said that the education system in entire Telangana State needs a total revamp.
Intervening on the issue during Question Hour in Legislative Assembly on Monday, the Chief Minister said that the House should extensively debate the changes that need to be introduced to revitalise the education sector. Referring to the allegations of collection of exorbitant amounts by the managements of private schools, KCR said that the State Government was taking measures to control the menace. He said immediate closure of unrecognised schools would harm the students and therefore, a decision in this regard would be taken only after taking views from all legislators.
The Chief Minister proposed that all educational institutions in the State should be brought under one roof. He found fault with the Education Policy of Central Government and said it keeps changing with the change in party-in-power. Citing an instance, he said that the previous UPA Government started Model Schools across the country. However, the same have been closed down by the present NDA Government. He said now the State Government is bearing the burden of nearly 3,000 teachers who were appointed for those schools.
Similarly, the Chief Minister said there were lots of concerns with regard to implementation of Right to Education (RTE) Act in the State. He said that the government would be required to pay fee for 25% students in private schools and it would make nearly 40,000 teachers jobless.
KCR assured that a comprehensive policy would be adopted to resolve the issue of Fee Reimbursement. He said all dues towards Fee Reimbursement would be cleared by April and officials have been instructed to initiate monthly payments towards this scheme.
The Chief Minister proposed that the Assembly should discuss the issue in detail and come up with concrete suggestions to strengthen the education system in Telangana State.
