NDA Govt acting in dictatorial manner: Uttam Hyderabad, April 6 (INN): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has strongly criticised the BJP-led NDA Government for imposing President's Rule in Congress-ruled Uttarakhand State.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the NDA Government has openly violated the Constitution to dethrone the Congress party in Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh. He said some Congress rebels were used as tools to trigger a controversy and based on it, the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre dislodged democratically elected governments. He said that the dismissal of Uttarakhand Government was a blot on Indian democracy and it was a clear attempt to bring the State under indirect rule of BJP.
Uttam Kumar Reddy described the moves by NDA Government clearly exposes its dictatorial tendencies.
The TPCC chief also slammed Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy for criticising Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi. He strongly objected to Kishan Reddy's accusation that Rahul Gandhi was aligning with anti-national forces. He said that Nehru-Gandhi family has sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of the country and patriotism flows in their blood. He said Rahul Gandhi had visited University of Hyderabad to express solidarity with the family of a Dalit research scholar Rohith Vemula, who had committed suicide. He faulted BJP for attributing political motives to Rahul Gandhi's visit.
Earlier, Uttam Kumar Reddy led a protest against the dismissal of Congress Government and imposition of President's Rule in Uttarakhand State. The Congress workers took out a protest march from Gandhi Bhavan to TNGOs Circle where they burnt the effigies and cut-outs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah. The Congress workers also carried huge cut-outs of Narendra Modi in which he was depicted as Adolf Hitler.
Congress legislators T. Rammohan Reddy, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, ex-minister Sridhar Babu, Youth Congress president Anil Kumar Yadav and other leaders were also present.
