KCR seeks increase in Haj quota for Telangana Hyderabad, April 6 (INN): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Wednesday demanded that the Central Government increase the Haj quota for Telangana State.
In his letter to Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, the Chief Minister said that Muslim population in the State was about 44.74 lakh. However, the Telangana State has been allotted a quota of just 2,532 pilgrims. Informing that the State Haj Committee received over 17,000 applications for Haj 2016, he urged the Centre to increase the Haj quota to at least 4,000.
