Women's entry in Shani Shingnapur temple will lead to rapes
Shankaracharya of Dwaraka-Sharda Peeth Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati raked in a controversy with his sensational comments against Shirdi Saibaba and Shani Dev. The Swami said that women worshipping Shani Dev can lead to proliferation of rape incidents. He made the comments after the Shani Shingnapur temple opened its doors to women recently. Not stopping with that he has attributed the drought-like situation in Maharashtra to the worship of the 'unworthy' Shirdi Sai Baba.
The religious leader says on should not consider Shirdi Saibaba and Shani Dev as Gods and blames the practice of praying these two deities. He added that Shirdi Saibaba and Shani Dev are responsible for drought in Maharashtra, where they have large followers.
Dismissing Saibaba as god, he urged the people to worship only Lord Ganesha. He even asked his devotees to remove Sai Baba's photographs and idols from the temple. The 94-year-old also reacted on the Shani temple row and said that women should not have entered the sanctum sanctorum of the Shani Shingnapur temple. He said that it would bring bad luck to them and will lead to crimes such as rapes against them.
