KCR lays foundation for Ambedkar's statue Hyderabad, April 14 (INN): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao said that people of Telangana would always remain indebted to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar as it was the Constitution drafted by him which has turned the statehood dream into a reality.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for the construction of 125-feet tall statue besides NTR Gardens here on Thursday, the Chief Minister stressed on following the ideology of Dr. Ambedkar. He announced that the State Government would establish 100 Social Welfare Residential Schools and 25 Residential Colleges this year. He said there was a proposal to set up 50 residential schools for STs. He also announced enhancement of funds for Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Dalits from Rs. 10 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh.
Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy and other ministers, legislators and top officials were present in the bhoomi pooja programme.
