Girls outperform boys in intermediate exams


 
Hyderabad, April 22 (INN): Girls outperformed boys in both the first and second years of Intermediate Public Examination whose results were announced here on Friday.

Declaring the results, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari informed that the total pass percentage in inter first year was 53.55% while it was 62.95% in second year in the General Category. The girls pass percentage in first year was 58.9% as against boy's 48%. Similarly, in second year, girls pass percentage was 67.64% as against boy's pass percentage of 58.11%.

Ranga Reddy District was on top in both inter first and second results with 69% and 76% pass percentages respectively. In first year, Nalgonda was on bottom with 41% while the district shared the last position with Medak in second year results with 53%. However, the Deputy CM claimed that the overall pass percentages in inter second year have improved during the last three years. While it was 60.14% in 2014, it increased to 61.41% in 2015 and this year it was 62.95%.

The last date for payment of examination fee for I & II year Intermediate Advance Supplementary Examinations, May/June 2016 is April 30. There is no provision for payment of fee with penalty after the due date.

The first year candidates who have passed in all papers can appear for improvement, on payment of Rs. 100 per paper in addition to the normal examination fee. The better of Old/New performance will be taken only for those candidates who passed in all subjects.

For 1st and 2nd year candidates there is a provision for recounting and supply of scanned copy-cum-reverification of valued answer scripts. The candidates who wish to avail these facilities have to pay online, an amount of Rs. 100 per paper for Recounting and Rs. 600 per paper for scanned copy-cum-Reverification of answer book, through tsbie.cgg.gov.in Student online services or TS/AP Online centres. Last date for payment of fee towards Recounting/Scanned copy-cum-reverification is April 30.

Kadiyam Srihari said there 402 government junior colleges with 1.5 lakh students in Telangana State. He said that the government proposed to construct new buildings for 15 colleges which are now operating in rented premises. He said nearly Rs. 210 crore would be spent for the construction of new buildings and infrastructure. Further, in other colleges, Rs. 6 crore will be spent to improve the Labs, Rs. 10 crore on computers and Rs. 2 crore on modernisation of Libraries. He said CCTV cameras were being installed in the Board of Intermediate Education office to increase transparency.

Special Chief Secretary Smt Acharya, BIE Secretary Dr. A. Ashok, Controller of Examination Sushil Kumar and other senior officials were also present.
