Congress seeks Jagan's support Hyderabad, April 22 (INN): In a surprising move, the Telangana Congress is seeking the support of YSR Congress party to win by-elections in Palair Assembly constituency in Khammam district.
TPCC Working Presdient Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday called on YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at his Lotus Pond office. He reportedly urged Jagan not to field YSRCP candidate in Palair by-elections and support the Congress candidate. According to sources, Jagan was non-committal on the issue although he assured to consider the request. Bhatti told him that the Congress party was planning to field one of the family members of deceased MLA Ramreddy Venkat Reddy, whose sudden demise necessitated the by-polls.
Speaking to media persons earlier at Gandhi Bhavan, Bhatti slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for breaking the tradition of ensuring unanimous election of family members in case of sudden demise of sitting MLAs. He said it was solely due to arrogance and greed for power that the KCR has broke all traditions. He urged all opposition parties to support the Congress party in by-elections which are scheduled to be held month.
Earlier in the day, Bhatti also called on CPI (M) Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram seeking him support.
He also slammed the State Government over drought situation in the State and alleged that the government did not even prepare a report to be submitted to the Centre to seek drought relief.
