TDP to support Congress candidate Hyderabad, April 24 (INN): Telangana TDP has decided not to contest the by-elections for Palair Assembly segment in Khammam district on May 16. Further, the TDP would support the candidature of Congress nominee Sucharitha Reddy.
Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Telangana TDP President L. Ramana said that the TDP had started the tradition of unanimous election of any family member in case of death of sitting MLAs. However, Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has broke the tradition after coming to power. He said TPCC President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka had approached the TDP seeking withdrawal in favour of Sucharitha Reddy, the widow of Ramreddy Venkat Reddy, whose sudden demise necessitated the by-polls.
Ramana also appealed to all political parties to support Sucharitha Reddy's candidature in by-elections.
