Congress demands cheating case against KCR

Hyderabad, April 25 (INN): The Minorities Department of Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) on Monday approached the State Minorities Commission seeking registration of cheating case against Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for not fulfilling the promise of giving 12% reservation to Muslims in jobs and education in the State.

Led by GHCC Minorities Dept Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail, a delegation of Congress leaders including GHCC General Secretary Syed Nizamuddin, ex-corporators Mohd Ghouse and Meraj Mohammed and others, called on State Minorities Commission chairman Abid Rasool Khan and lodged a complaint accusinig KCR of resorting to "mass cheating of Muslims".

Speaking to media persons later, Abdullah Sohail said that on April 19, 2014, while addressing an election meeting at Shadnagar in Mahabubnagar district, KCR had promised 12% Muslim reservation within four months after formation of his government. "A majority of Muslims believed KCR and voted for his TRS party. He came to power and became the Chief Minister on June 2, 2014. However, he simply forgot the promise that he made with Muslim minorities. While making the promise, KCR specifically mentioned that 12% Muslim reservation will be implemented within four months. But even after 23 months, there is no clarity on when the promise will be fulfilled," he said.

Abdullah Sohail described the Enquiry Commission, constituted by the State Government on March 3, 2015, as an eye wash. He said that the Commission, led by retired IAS officer G. Sudhir, was constituted under Section 3 of Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1952. The Commission was constituted for a term of six months and so far it has been given two extensions. This Commission is aimed at delaying the implementation of 12% Muslim quota, he said.

"The Chief Minister, in his statement given during last budget session in Assembly, assured that the government would first seek report from the Sudhir Commission and then it would constitute Backward Classes Commission. Later, the recommendations of BC Commission would be placed in the House and a resolution will be passed in the House seeking Centre's help to get 12% Muslim reservation. Therefore, there is no clarity on when the State Government will implement 12% Muslim reservation. This clearly proves that KCR has made the promise without doing any homework. His sole intention was to cheat the Muslims and get their votes during elections," said Abdullah Sohail.

Abdullah Sohail said that the Minorities Commission has been requested to issue directions to the authorities concerned to register a case of cheating against KCR. "We also requested the Commission to seek a reply from the State Government on the status of 12% Muslim Reservation promise," he said.

The Congress leaders are now planning to lodge a similar complaint with the Election Commission of India. "The EC should fix accountability on political parties on implementation of their election manifesto," he said.
