IRCTC Website Hacked; Huge data Stolen
In a shocking incident reports have been emerging about alleged hacking attempt on IRCTC, (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited) Website. As per reports in media circles the popular website which is used for ticket booking across india has been hacked and Personal data like email ids and mobile numbers are reported to have been compromised
Meanwhile IRCTC has denied news reports that its data had been hacked. IRCTC PRO Sandip Dutta said: 'There has been no hacking attempt on the site. A high-level committee has been formed to probe the matter.'
There are some conflicting reports about it but it is almost certain that something is wrong with the user data held by IRCTC website. Any data theft or hack at IRCTC.co.in could result in the leak of critical information of lakhs of users who book tickets on the site.
IRCTC officials are worried about the data being ended up in wrong hands. A senior railway official stated that the stolen data could be used to create forged documents and identities.
The matter came to light when the Cyber Cell of the Mumbai police informed IRCTC that a large volume of data from its website was stolen. IRCTC has also formed a six member high-level committee to look into the matter.
