Congress to protest Godavari water diversion
Karimnagar, Aug 3 (INN): Congress on Wednesday alleged that the ruling TRS diverted Godavari water from Karimnagar to Medak district to meet the requirements for the Mission Bhagiratha project. The Prime Minister is set to launch the Mission Bhagiratha project on August 7.
In a statement, DCC chief K. Mruthyunjayam alleged that the ruling party MLAs and MPs from the district did not raise any objection when the Godavari waters were diverted and alleged that the TRS leaders were least bothered when the interests of the people of the district were diluted.
DCC chief said that the party would organise dharnas on August 5 at Ramagundam, Peddapally, Karimnagar, Manakondur and Husnabad demanding the government to allocate the district its water share from Ellampally project to the people of the district first before diverting it to neighbouring districts.
