KCR directs to release water from SRSP Hyderabad, Aug 9 (INN): Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has directed the officials to release water from SRSP and Srisailam Dam for irrigation and Pushkaralu.
Addressing a review meeting at his camp office on Tuesday, the Chief Minister asked officials to submit a report within days on the requirements for release of water. The meeting was attended by Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao and Engineer-in-Chief Muralidhar Rao.
The Chief Minister said that the storage in SRSP has touched 47.5 TMC with an inflow of 8,000 Cusecs. Therefore, he said water could be released for irrigation purpose. He directed the officials to prepare the estimates on the quantity of water needed for irrigation in the ongoing Khariff season. He said requests have been received from Nalgonda and Warangal for release of water from SRSP.
Similarly, the storage in Srisailam Dam has crossed 112 TMC with an inflow of 15-16 Cusecs. He said water should be released for Pushkaralu in Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda. He asked the district collectors concerned to submit the reports by this evening as the Krishna Pushkaralu are set to begin from August 12.
