Aruna vows to intensify stir for Gadwal district Hyderabad, Sept 4 (INN): Congress senior leader and former MLA D.K. Aruna slammed the TRS Government for not paying any heed to the popular demand for creation of Gadwal district.
Aruna, who undertook two-day fast along with ex-PCC President Ponnala Lakshmaiah and Alampur MLA A. Sampath Kumar, urged the State Government to adopt a scientific approach while carrying out the reorganization of the districts. She said except TRS, all other political parties and NGOs were supporting the demand for Gadwal district. She also criticised Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao for not reacting to her challenge for an open debate on the issue. She said neither KCR, nor ministers Tarakarama Rao or Harish Rao turned up at Dharna Chowk to give their version on reorganisation of districts. She ridiculed the statement given by Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha opposing creation of Gadwal and dubbed it as immature comment.
Describing KCR as a 'specialists' in speaking lies, Aruna listed out various unfulfilled promises of TRS Government. She said except KCR's family, no other person gained from the formation of Telangana. She accused KCR of ruining the aspirations of people of Telangana by indulging in opportunistic politics which reached its peak in the form of reorganisation of districts. She said all ministers in KCR's cabinet are either toothless or helpless.
Aruna expressed her resolve to intensify the stir for Gadwal district.
Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that the Congress workers would not rest until they get district-status for Jangaon.
Earlier, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, ex-Deputy CM Damodar Rajanarasimha and Nagarkurnool MP Nandi Yellaiah offered lime juice to Ponnala, Aruna and Sampath Kumar respectively to end their two-day long hunger fast at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park on Sunday evening.
In his speech, Uttam Kumar Reddy lambasted the TRS government saying that it was pursing anti-people policies. He said the reorganistion of districts was not being done scientifically and the entire process was taken up to benefit party leaders.
Uttam said that though the people of Gadwal, Jangaon and Sircilla were demanding the creation of new districts, the government was least bothered to take up their views. He demanded that the government hand over the process of reorganisation of district to a judicial commission to ensure justice to all stakeholders.
Senior leaders including Rajya Sabha MP Palwai Godavardhan, TPCC Vice-President Mallu Ravi, ex-minister Marri Sashidhar Reddy, TPCC Chief Spokesperson Sravan Dasoju, ex-MP M. Anjan Kumar Yadav and Mahabubnagar DCC president Obaidullah Kotwal were also present. Party workers in large numbers were present to extend support to the hunger strike of the Congress leaders.
