Special status issue rocks AP Assembly Hyderabad, Sept 9 (INN): The issue of special category status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh rocked the house for a second consecutive day on Friday as Opposition YSRC MLAs demanded an immediate debate on the matter.
The MLAs rushed to the House Well and staged protest raising anti-government slogans despite repeated requests from the Speaker to end their protest.
With Opposition not relenting, the Speaker called marshals to evict the protesting MLAs. There were unruly scenes as the MLAs resisted the attempts by the marshal to evict them.
The Speaker then adjourned the House for 10 minutes. When the House assembled again, the opposition MLAs further intensified their protest. With the situation slipping out of control, Speaker K Siva Prasad again adjourned the house for 15 minutes.
YSRC MLA C Bhaskar Reddy lashed out at the TD government saying that it was trying to intimidate the Opposition. He said the opposition had every right to protest in the House for the wrong doing of the ruling party. He lashed out at the TD and the BJP accusing them of betraying the people of AP by denying the special status to state.
