CLP slams KCR for postponing session
Hyderabad, Sept 21 (INN): The Telangana Congress Legislature Party has strongly condemned Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for postponing the monsoon session of State Legislative Assembly and Council.
In a media statement, CLP leader K. Jana Reddy and Leader of Opposition in Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had agreed to convene the monsoon session from September 20 onwards. The assurance was given during the meeting of Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of both Assembly and Council held on August 30. "The Chief Minister went back on his promise and did not even had the courtesy of informing the all floor leader of reasons for postponing the session. This is nothing but utter disrespect for the State Legislature. Probably, no other Chief Minister in the country would treat the Assembly in this manner," they said.
Shabbir Ali alleged that the TRS Government was not conducting the Assembly and Council session as it was afraid of facing the opposition parties. He said several important issues need to be discussed in the House. They include agrarian crisis, irrigation pact with Maharashtra, reorganisation of districts, Eamcet-2 question paper leakage, gangster Nayeem cases, devastation caused by heavy rains, bad condition of roads in city, spread of diseases, Central funds, etc.,
The Congress leaders demanded that Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and Speaker S. Madhusudan Chary take a serious note on this and direct the Chief Minister to convene the session as assured in the BAC meeting. "Both the Governor and Speaker are not doing their job properly. They must follow the Constitution to perform their duties instead of taking instructions from the Chief Minister," they demanded.
