AI Summit calls for global cooperation to harness AI for benefit of humanity

The India AI Impact Summit 2026, a landmark event aimed at fostering global collaboration on artificial intelligence (AI), concluded in New Delhi on Saturday with a call for international cooperation to harness the transformative power of AI for the benefit of humanity.

Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the summit brought together leading experts, policymakers, and industry leaders from around the world. The event focussed on three key themes: AI for Social Empowerment, Human Capital Development, and Resilience, Innovation, and Efficiency.

Prime Minister Modi delivered a keynote address, highlighting the importance of global collaboration in addressing the challenges posed by AI. He emphasised that AI has the potential to be a game-changer for humanity but requires collective effort to realise its full potential.

The summit featured a diverse range of panel discussions, keynote speeches, and workshops that explored the applications of AI in various sectors, such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure development. It also showcased innovative AI solutions developed by startups and researchers from globally.

A significant outcome of the summit was the adoption of a set of voluntary guiding principles on resilient, innovative, and efficient AI. These principles aim to promote the development of AI systems that are transparent, accountable, and beneficial to society.

Furthermore, the summit launched a playbook on AI workforce development, providing a roadmap for governments, educational institutions, and industry leaders to develop the skills needed to support the growth of the AI ecosystem.

At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N Chandrababu Naidu, highlighted the pivotal role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in driving economic growth and social development. He emphasised AI's potential to transform the economy and enhance the lives of citizens, underscoring the government's commitment to collaborating with global partners to harness its benefits for all.

The summit, attended by over 1,000 delegates from more than 50 countries, including renowned experts, policymakers, and industry leaders, was hailed as a significant step towards promoting global collaboration on AI. Organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum and other leading industry partners, the summit aimed to foster dialogue and exchange ideas on the transformative potential of AI.
