Don't use even rubber bullets on protesters, CM tells police
HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed the police to be on high alert and not use even rubber bullets against the agitators in Seemandhra region.
The state government has sought 25 companies of Central para-military forces. This is besides 40 companies which are already stationed in the troubled parts of the state.
Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday reviewed the law and order situation in the state with chief secretary PK Mohanty, in-charge DGP B Prasada Rao, principal secretary (Home) TP Das and senior police officials at his camp office in the backdrop of the bandh being observed in Seemandhra region.
The chief minister asked the police to be on high alert and handle the situation carefully. He, however asked the police to protect government and private properties.
Meanwhile, the in-charge DGP Prasada Rao said that the law and order was under control and directed all SPs, police commissioners to take measures to prevent untoward incidents.
Prasada Rao held a review meeting through a video conference with all the SPs, CPs, IG and DIGs of Seemandhra districts.
Stating that as many as 40 companies of paramilitary forces were deployed in Seemandhra districts, Prasada Rao said that they wrote to the Centre seeking 25 additional forces.
The forces will be deployed at central offices like LIC, BSNL, railway stations and other sensitive locations, he said. Police would also provide tight security to the houses of public representatives and senior political leaders with the protestors targeting them, Prasada Rao saids.
