State government to seek an ITIR for Vizag HYDERABAD: With the Centre formally deciding to bifurcate the state, the state government is planning to develop the information technology industry in the new Seemandhra state and will urge the Centre to announce another Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR) for Visakhapatnam as it has done recently for Hyderabad.
IT minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah said here on Friday that a detailed project report on the proposed ITIR in Visakhapatnam was being prepared by Ernst & Young and it would be completed in one month. Then the state government would urge the Centre to sanction an ITIR for Visakhapatnam, he added.
The minister said the gaming and animation policy was ready and would be placed before the state cabinet soon. With the state set for division, he said, his department would seek legal opinion on announcing a new policy at this juncture.
Ponnala said that 4G work was progressing in 92 cities and towns. 'Once 4G services were available, one GB will be available for Rs 35 to Rs 40,' the minister said.
