Digvijay asks CM to act tough Hyderabad: With the law and order situation in Seemandhra showing signs of going out of hands, Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde directly contacted the Director-General of Police B Prasada Rao as part of the stock taking exercise, according to highly placed sources.
He took feedback from the police chief on the deployment of police forces as well as measures initiated to tide over the situation in the region which was on the boil.
AICC general secretary in-charge of AP affairs Digvijay Singh also had a telephonic conversation with Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and enquired on the violence.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi had reportedly taken a serious view of the deteriorating law and order situation in the 13 districts of the re gion. Singh had conveyed the same to the Chief Minister, who in turn asked the officials to sternly deal with those responsible for the untoward incidents.
The Chief Minister asked Chief Secretary P K Mohanty to review the prevailing conditions in Seemandhra and take steps for restoring normality. The Chief Secretary had a meeting with the DGP and other senior officials on Saturday evening.
