Samaikya supporter sets self afire, critical ONGOLE: A 33-year-old man, Ramireddy Nagi Reddy, made a self-immolation attempt by dousing himself with kerosene at Markapuram Saturday demanding that the Union government keep the state united.
According to sources, Nagi Reddy, a daily wage worker, has been participating in the Samaikyandhra protests for the past one month. He also participated in a rally at Markapuram Saturday and went to his house at Jagadeswari Theatre Centre.
Saddened by the news on the process of formation of T state, he poured kerosene on his person before setting himself afire. He ran into a street raising slogans in favour of Samaikyandhra.
Soon, locals shifted Nagi Reddy to the Area Government Hospital at Markapuram where the doctors suggested that he be taken to RIMS at Ongole as he had suffered 90 per cent burns. Nagi Reddy is battling for life at RIMS Hospital.
