Dinesh Reddy levels serious allegations against CM Hyderabad, Oct 8 (INN):Former DGP V Dinesh Reddy leveled serious allegations against Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy accusing him of betrayal, supporting land grabbing and sabotaging Telangana.
Addressing a press conference at a private hotel here on Tuesday, Dinesh Reddy alleged that the Chief Minister denied him an extension as he did not support the land grabbing activities of his brother Santosh Reddy.
He said although Kiran Kumar Reddy assured him that he would be given an extension, but betrayed him by issuing a GO on his retirement two days prior to his retirement on September 30.
Dinesh Reddy also accused Kiran Kumar Reddy of sabotaging the formation of Telangana. He alleged that the Chief Minister wanted him to rake up Naxalites issue and claim that Maoists activities would increase in case of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.
"Kiran Kumar Reddy does not want Telangana state to become a reality," he alleged. When asked as to why he remained silent on these issues while in office, he said that his position did not permit him to speak in public about such matters. However, he claimed that he had opposed the Chief Minister on several occasions.
The ex-DGP admitted that he praised the Chief Minister on some occasions. "When we asked for Police welfare funds, he gave and therefore, we praised him," he said. However, he said that the real face of Kiran Kumar Reddy was exposed in the last two months.
Dinesh Reddy said that he was not afraid of any retaliation to the allegations that he has been leveling against the Chief Minister as he can prove them with evidence.
"Kisi kay baap ki jaagir nahi hai," he said and added there was dictatorialism in the country. "We will retaliate and re-bounce. We have our own groups, our own support," he said.
It may be mentioned that Dinesh Reddy's appeal for extension of service by one more year for turned down by the Central Administrative Tribunal and its decision was upheld by Andhra Pradesh High Court and then the Supreme Court.
Dinesh Reddy charged that Kiran was a backstabber and a betrayer who wanted the police chief to publicly state that bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh would strengthen the Maoists.
"But I did not. Similarly, I did not want to give permission for the APNGOs public meeting at LB Stadium in Hyderabad but the CM intervened and told me to accord permission for the same.
He also pulled me up for requesting the Centre for additional central forces in the Seemandhra region after the July 30 announcement on Telangana by the CWC," Dinesh Reddy said.
The former DGP summoned the media here on Tuesday morning and virtually launched a broadside against Kiran Kumar Reddy. "His brother, Santosh Kumar Reddy, requested me on several occasions to intervene and settle certain land disputes in his favour. I refused.
He would repeatedly ask me to give certain postings to some officers named by him but I did not oblige. On the other hand, he would sit on for months on the postings I send to him for clearance," Dinesh Reddy said.
The former DGP claimed that he was promised an extension by Kiran Kumar Reddy but was later denied by him. "The CM humiliated me, betrayed me and backstabbed me by issuing my superannuation order two days before my retirement. Had he given me enough indication before hand that I would not get extension, I would have exited the scene gracefully," Dinesh Reddy said.
Without naming either the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case or AP IPS officer and intelligence DIG N Balasubramanyam (who has been charged with murder in the case by the CBI), Dinesh Reddy said: "I sent a report to the CM suggesting that a certain IPS officer linked to a certain case was in a sensitive position and that he should be replaced.
However, the reply I got from Kiran Kumar Reddy, after he sat on the report for two months, was that there was no need to shift that officer from that position."
