CM promised to accept T-decision: Digvijay


 
New Delhi, Oct 9 (INN): AICC General Secretary and incharge of AP Congress Affairs Digvijay Singh claimed that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has assured to abide by the decision taken by the Centre to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh to carve out Telangana.

Talking to reporters here, Digvijay Singh said that he spoke to the Chief Minister and the latter informed him that although he differs on many points with regard to bifurcation, he would respect and abide by the decision taken by the Congress High Command. He was replying to a question with regard to the open criticism by the Chief Minister's on Telangana decision.

Digvijay Singh also appealed to the APNGOs and other unions to call off their strike immediately. He claimed that the power supply has been restored for emergency services including hospital, railways and airport. He said that the unions should end their strike in view of the inconvenience being caused to the people.

He said that the Centre has consulted all stakeholders and took a decision only after all parties announced their support in writing. Stating that he had lot of respect for TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, he said what could be done if he changes his stand after giving in writing.

He said YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy was like his son and his father Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy was his good friend. However, he said that even Jagan changed his stand after supporting Telangana. He said that the Centre had speculated all these developments after the announcement.

Digvijay Singh said that the Telangana was issue was also discussed with all the leaders of Congress party. "When they promised that they abide by the decision of High Command, then they should abide by it," he said.

He refused to comment on non-inclusion of any minister from Andhra Pradesh in the Group of Ministers on State's bifurcation. He said that it was the decision taken by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and everyone should follow it.

When asked about Central team's visit to the State, he said AK Antony is unwell and Ahmed Patel is unable to visit. He said although he was willing to go, but he has been advised not to visit the State alone. He said all the applications received by the Antony Committee would be forwarded to the GoM.

When asked about Lagadapati Rajagopal approaching the Delhi High Court seeking acceptance of his resignation, he said that the Vijayawada MP had a right to do so.
