Lord rides Surya Prabha, Chandra Prabha vahanams TIRUMALA: Lord Venkateswara was on Friday taken out in procession around the four mada streets on Surya Prabha vahanam in the morning and on Chandra Prabha vahanam in the night even as the TTD is gearing up for yet another mega event of the Brahmotsavams, the Rathotsavam, to be held on Saturday.
On Friday, in the morning, the Lord was taken out on one of the most sacred gold carriers, Surya Prabha Vahanam. The Sun God carries the processional deity as a part of the event which was held on the seventh day of the on-going Brahmothsavams.
The processional deity of Lord Malayappa will be in Govardhana Giridhara, Murali Krishna roopam and tens of thousands of pilgrims had the glimpse of the Lord.
Temple priests offered special poojas and adorned the deity on the Surya Prabha vahanam, where the Sun God rides his seven horses and carry the Lord Venkateswara.
Chief priest AV Ramana Dheekshithulu chaired on the carrier and offered harathis during the procession. Cultural troupes dressed as Sun God performed in front of the procession. In the night, the Lord was taken out in a procession on Chandra Prabha Vahanam.
The processional deity Malayappa rides atop the sacred carrier in the posture of - Chinni Krishna. It is a common belief that the darshan of Chandra Prabha Vahanam gives long life to devotees and also relieves them of all illness.
Chinni Krishna with a golden pot in all his glory was like a feast to the eyes of the devotees.
