Rajnath reiterates BJP support for Telangana NEW DELHI: Accusing the ruling Congress party of inept handling of Telangana criss, the BJP chief Rajnath Singh said, 'The crisis in Andhra Pradesh is a fallout of crisis within the Congress party.
In Andhra Pradesh, the Congress-led government has brought in inter-regional rivalry. Both the Union government and the Andhra Pradesh government have taken no steps to contain it.'
'The creation of a new state requires a political acumen. Congress has left the situation to deteriorate by the day,' Singh said in a statement here. The BJP said current crisis in the state was a result of feud within the ruling Congress.
The BJP which is looking for an ally in the Seemandhra region appealed to both Naidu and Jagan to withdraw their fasts. Naidu and YSRC honorary president Vijayamma had met Singh seeking BJP's intervention in resolving the crisis.
Though, the BJP is in favour of Telangana, it said it wants the Centre to address the concerns of both the regions in the state. 'The Central government must call all stakeholders and discuss the bifurcation issue. We demand that the state government ensure the safety and security of the people and their property,' Singh said.
There is a cyclone threat in the coastal districts. There is a need for all the government machinery to pay attention to safeguarding people, property and public infrastructure at a time of imminent natural emergencies,' Singh said.
