Temperatures soaring, after cyclone Hyderabad: In the aftermath of the cyclone the temperatures in Andhra Pradesh seems to be soaring, but the Meteorological officials clarified saying it is normal in the month of October as it is generally a transition month from monsoon to winter.
Met director Sudhakar Rao said unless there was a cyclone or storm which was common during the months from October to December, the temperatures were on the higher side.
After the Phailin cyclone there was no such system present, hence the temperatures were warm. The temperatures during October could go up to 35 degrees. However, there would be a plus or minus by one or two degree Celsius.
Met scientist Narasimha Rao informed after October 14 the temperatures would be normally below normal. Telangana and Rayalseema had nearly normal temperatures whereas coastal Andhra Pradesh was above normal.
Normally, the month of October witnesses above normal temperatures since it is post monsoon period. Also the south-west monsoon withdraws by October 10.
However, this time the withdrawal was delayed by a few days in view of the cyclone storm. Once the monsoon is withdrawn Telangana is generally dry unless there is a system formed in the Bay of Bengal.
According to the Met director light to moderate rains were expected at a few places in the State mainly in Rayalseema and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The forecast for Hyderabad valid until the morning of October 17 says the sky condition would be generally cloudy. Rain or thundershowers may occur in parts of the city. Maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 32 and 22 degree Celsius respectively.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperatures rose at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, at one or two places over Telangana but fell at one or two places over Rayalaseema. They were markedly below normal at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, appreciably above normal at places in Telangana and Rayalaseema.
The highest maximum temperature of 38 degree Celsius was recorded at Nellore. The minimum temperature fell at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and changed little over Rayalaseema. The lowest minimum temp of 21 degree Celsius was recorded at Arogyavaram.
