Martyr Feroz Khan laid to rest Hyderabad, Oct 17 (INN): Martyr Lance Naik Mohammad Feroz Khan was given a tearful farewell by hundreds of people in the city on Thursday.
Martyr Feroz Khan's Namaz-e-Janaza was performed at Masjid e Salehein of Salehein Colony in Shaheen Nagar while the burial, with full military honours, took place in Nawab Sahab Kunta graveyard.
Besides the relatives and neighbours, political leaders across party lines and others visited the martyr's house to express their condolences with the family.
While his mother Akhtar Begum and wife Nasreen Begum wailed inconsolably, the sight of his three children - four-year-old daughter Afshan Fatima, two-year-old son Arshad Khan and eight-month-old daughter Ayesha Fatima brought tears into the eyes of everyone who saw them.
Martyr Feroz Khan was killed in mortar firing from the Pakistani side near Panjani Nallah in Balakote sector of Mendhar tehsil in Poonch. The incident occurred at 5.30 PM on Tuesday, an hour before his wife and children would have conveyed their Eid Mubarak to him.
He was part of Madras Regiment for the last 12 years and had visited the family about two months ago on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. His father Jaffar Khan too was an ex-service man and a native of Narayanpet in Mahabubnagar district. He had called home two days ago and had said that he would not be home for Bakrid.
Earlier, his body, which was flown in from J&K, was received by Minorities Commission Chairman Abid Rasool Khan at the Shamshabad International Airport who laid a wreath on behalf of the State Government.
Labour Minister Danam Nagender, Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain, YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, BJP leaders G Kishan Reddy and Bandaru Dattatreya, MBT corporator Amjadullah Khan Khaled and others leaders belonging to different parties paid their tributes to the martyr Feroz Khan.
