Leaders split between Kiran, High Command HYDERABAD: Leave alone formulating an action plan to keep the state united, the meeting of Seemandhra Congress Coordination Committee, held at the Ministers' Quarters here, witnessed fireworks between the followers of chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and the loyalists of the Congress high command.
Ministers Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, P Bala Raju and Kondru Murali Mohan, loyal to the AICC leadership, are said to have tried to veto the suggestion put forward by the Kiran Reddy's supporters Sake Sailajanath and Ganta Srinivasa Rao.
According to sources, Murali Mohan, who has now distanced himself from the chief minister's camp, fired salvos at Congress leaders like Lagadapati Rajagopal, who are openly criticising the party leadership.
'Some are trying to tarnish the image of the party by openly criticising the party high command probably with an eye on other parties. If they want to leave the party, let them leave. But, we all should preserve the party in Seemandhra while fighting for the rights of our region,' Murali Mohan was quoted as saying.
While Mural Mohan was making these remarks, MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan, who is said to be with the chief minister's camp, reportedly intervened and came down heavily on the minister, saying the agenda of the meeting was not how to protect the party, but how to keep the state united.
'The meeting is aimed at formulating an action plan on how to keep the state united. If you want to speak at length on how to preserve the party in Seemandhra, you please hold a separate meeting on that subject,' the MLA is learnt to have told the minister.
According to sources, heated arguments were also witnessed between the camps of the chief minister and the Congress high command when Murali Mohan reportedly fired at his peers for not condemning the recent attacks on the properties of PCC chief Botcha Satyanarayana and MP GV Harsha Kumar.
