Three ITIRs proposed for Seemandhra region Hyderabad: In a major conciliatory move towards Seemandhra region, Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah on Friday announced that Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) will be set up, one each in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Anantapur.
After a meeting with Asia-Pacific Oracle Senior Vice-President Adrian Jones and Oracle India Managing Director Sandeep Mathur, he said Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) have already been commissioned. Once the DPRs are received, then the Government will immediately take steps to allocate suitable land in each of the three regions.
Ponnala Lakshmaiah acknowledged that there have been misgivings in the minds of the people of Seemandhra region of a possible discrimination, after the Union Cabinet recently approved setting up of Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) near Hyderabad at an investment of around Rs 2.19 lakh crore.
It is to allay these misgivings that the Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to go ahead with the ITIR in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Anantapur. The Minister said two DPRs have been commissioned.
One is for the ITIR in Visakhapatnam. The other DPR would be common for the ITIR in both Tirupati and Anantapur regions. Finding land would not be a problem, he said.
Ponnala Lakshmaiah said innovative steps are being taken for providing broadband connectivity to all villages. In fact, 4G network expansion to major towns apart from the principal cities has been accorded top priority, in order to bring down the internet costs.
The Minister attached high importance to his meeting with Asia-Pacific Oracle Senior Vice-President Adrian Jones and Oracle India Managing Director Sandeep Mathur, as Oracle has emerged as Number 2 IT firm globally.
It has Rs 1,20,000 crore investments across 150 countries in the world. Adrian Jones expressed satisfaction with his meeting with Ponnala Lakshmaiah, saying it was a great dialogue.
