Rains fill city reservoirs Hyderabad: Here is some good news to the rain battered people of the twin cities. The heavy rains that lashed the city for the last few days have filled the major reservoirs to the brim.
This takes care of the drinking water needs, which are met from these reservoirs. Another positive thing is that the rains have also raised the ground water levels in different parts of the city. Following heavy rains the levels in the seven reservoirs have gone up better than last year levels on the same date.
According to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board the level and capacity at Manjeera has improved considerably and stands at 29.279 TMC against last years level at 15.588 TMC capacity.
However it is way below the full reservoir level which is 39.783 TMC. All the reservoirs have filled up and are in better levels today then last year. The inflows as on today was 0.474 TMC. Manjira has a shortfall of 0.150 feet to acheive the full reservoir level, Akkampally has a shortfall of 2.000 metres shortfall to reach the full reservoir level.
Nagarjunasagar has a shortfall of 4.2000 feet, and Srisailam has a shortfall of 3.600 feet to achieve the full reservoir level. Osmansagar is 17.000 feet away before it reaches the full reservoir level and Himayathsagar is 18.000 feet deficient to achieve the full reservoir level and Singur is 2.871 feet to achieve the full reservoir level.
The inflows have improved considerably and against the total TMC of 39.783 TMC the levels are 29.279 TMC as on Thursday.
