CM to revive Rachabanda on Nov 6 HYDERABAD: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy is all set to undertake a statewide tour from Nov 6 as part of Rachabanda, a mass contact programme.
Amidst Kiran Reddy's reported plans to arouse United Andhra sentiment in Seemandhra by undertaking whirlwind tour across the region, a Cabinet sub-committee headed by agriculture minister Kanna Lakshminarayana met here on Thursday and decided to hold Rachabanda between November 6 and 24.
However, the venue from where the chief minister will formally launch the third round of Rachabanda will be decided later. Initially, officials have put May 31 as deadline for receiving applications for third phase of Rachabanda. However, the government on Thursday decided to consider the applications received till October 24.
According to Lakshminarayana, around 15 lakh ration cards, 7.62 lakh pensions, 1.05 lakh physically challenged pensions and 37,000 family benefit scheme pensions would be cleared during the third phase of Rachabanda.
He said that under the family benefit scheme, 37,000 widows would get Rs 10,000 each. The government has decided to give physically challenged pensions even if the disability was below 40 per cent.
'Around 1.8 lakh physically challenged persons were registered with below 40 per cent disability. Now, the government would also consider disability between 20 to 39 per cent and the number would further increase,' he said.
