Safety of the women employees is top priority: CM


 
Hyderabad, Oct 25 (INN): Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has reiterated that the safety of women employees is the top priority of the government and directed the officials of various departments including Police to make all efforts for the safety of the women employees, particularly the IT women staff.

He said safety measures should be stepped up in all the IT Corridors, ORR and surroundings of Cyberabad, Gachibowli etc., particularly for the women employees on night shifts.

The Chief Minister agreed to set up Fast Track Courts to try Abhaya cases in the State including the present one under the Nirbhaya Act.

Kiran Kumar Reddy has reviewed the progress of the Case of 'Abhaya' and proposed safety measures to be taken for the IT women employees, at a high-level meeting held here at Secretariat this afternoon.

Minister for Transport Botsa Satyannarayana, Minister for IT Ponnala lakshmaiah, Minister for Finance Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Minister for Secondary Education K Parthasarathi, Minister for Social Welfare Pithani Satyannarayana, Chief Secretary Dr.P.K.Mohanty, Director General of Police B Prasada Rao, APSRTC MD A.K.Khan, Commissioners of Police Anurag Sharma (Hyderabad) and CV Anand (Secunderabad), Principal Secretary Municipal Administration Sameer Sharma, HMDA Commissioner Neerabh Kumar Prasad, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar, Special DGPs, Additional DGPs, Srinivas Prasad of Society for Cyberabad Security Council and several senior officials of various departments attended the meeting.

The Chief Minister has directed the Chief Secretary to constitute a Committee to suggest immediate measures to be taken for the safety and also a long-term plan and said funds will not be a problem. He has also directed to send a reminder to the letter already addressed to the Prime Minister requesting for a Comprehensive Surveillance System for Hyderabad.

The Chief Minister stated that the safety measures for short-term and long-term including installation-maintenance-continuous monitoring of the CC Camera system, Visible policing, increasing check-posts in I T Corridors, Policing on ORR, barricading, vehicle checking, Controlling and monitoring of Private transport (Cabs and autos), branding of taxis by specific colour, registration of all the autos and taxis with the Police, establishment of Pre-paid Taxi, Auto Centres in the vicinity of I T Corridors, increasing of Public Transport (RTC buses), MMTS-RTC bus connectivity, Electronic Toll-gate management, High-traffic Management systems on ORR, Lighting of ORR, survey of working women hostels, Service hostels etc.

Kiran Kumar Reddy also asked the officials to speed up the work relating for implementation of Public Safety Act, which was recently passed by the State Legislature. He has appealed to all the sections of the society to take up awareness campaign about safety and security measures, Dos and Don'ts as many of the women IT employees coming from the rural areas. He has also asked to take up media campaign through Electronic Media, Social Media, FM Radio, Print Media, Awareness meetings in IT Companies etc.,
