Rain did not deter them to attend Sankharavam
Hyderabad: In spite of incessant rains and floods at several places, the YSRCP succeeded in mobilising sizeable crowd for the Samaikya Sankharavam held at LB stadium here on Saturday.
YSRCP president YS Jaganmohan Reddy, in his bid to win over the people of the region, expressed his gratitude to all those who had turned up for the meeting braving several problems.
The meeting observed two minutes silence for those who lost their lives in the floods havoc. In a spirited speech opposing the bifurcation of the State, Jagan thundered that people of the State were not pawns on a chess board and would not tolerate injustice.
He said neither Sonia Gandhi nor TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu, who was seeking packages, had ever bothered to find out why Seemandhra region was on boil and what the people want. He said, if the Centre did not respond, his party will raise the banner of revolt with the song Vande
Mataram and would dumb those who want to bifurcate the State in the Bay of Bengal.
Charging the Union government with having failed to follow the standard procedure on the division of the State, Jagan alleged that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was the 'agent' of Congress high command.
Reiterating that division of the State would turn Seemandhra into a 'desert' , he said if tribunals and boards could resolve issues like sharing of water then why was it that Tamil Nadu and Karnataka continue to fight over water.
According national status to Polavaram would be of no use as it would also not get water, he said. If State is divided how will Srisailam and Nagarjunsagar get water? Where will water come for projects in Mahbubnagar? What will happen to SLBC in Nalgonda? What will be the fate of Galeru Nagari and Handri Neeva, he questioned.
As large number of people rushed to Hyderabad in private vehicles, the city traffic was thrown out of gear.
