Saina is brand ambassador of AP Tourism Hyderabad, Aug 19 (INN): The state government on Thursday announced its decision to appoint ace badminton player Saina Nehwal as its new brand ambassador to promote Andhra Pradesh as an attractive tourist destination.
Talking to media persons, state Tourism Secretary Jayesh Ranjan said Saina has given her acquiescence to the government's proposal and will sign a Memorandum of Understanding in this regard soon.
Saina, the world Number Two women's badminton player is expected to take up her new assignment on September 27, World Tourism Day.
The Hyderabadi girl expressed her happiness and thanked the government for appointing her as the state's brand ambassador.
Tourism Minister J Geeta Reddy also expressed happiness over the appointing of Saina as the state's brand ambassador and said that the decision will improve tourism inflows.
Saina's coach and former All-England Champion Pullela Gopichand and India's tennis player Sania Mirza had donned the role of brand ambassador of the state.
