Crunched England land in Chennai
Chennai, March 4: Trounced by minnows Ireland in a high-scoring thriller at Bangalore last night, an wounded England cricket team led by Andrew Strauss arrived here today for their crucial group B World Cup match against South Africa on Sunday. The team members along with their support staff arrived by a Jet Airways flight from Bangalore, where they were shocked by Ireland by three wickets. England had tied its earlier match against India after scampering past the Netherlands in their tournament-opener.
After the Sunday's tie at MA Chidambaram stadium here, England will play their subsequent matches against Bangladesh and the West Indies. England, which is under pressure to perform after a relatively poor show in the earlier outings, will have their net practice session here tomorrow afternoon. The South African team will arrive here tomorrow from Mohali after their 231-run win over the Netherlands today.
